Senior Thesis: Cultivating Growth Through Generational Bonds (In Progress)
Tendrel
is an innovative multigenerational living community designed to foster deep connections between seniors and young adults. Inspired by Buddha’s theory of interdependence, it creates a nurturing environment where individuals support and grow alongside one another. With individual mini homes centered around a community hub, Tendrel emphasizes shared experiences, mutual respect, and a sense of belonging. Through collaborative activities, intergenerational learning, and thoughtfully designed spaces, residents will build meaningful connections that enrich their lives and bridge the generational divide.
Student Housing:
Ann Arbor student housing has sparked frustration among University of Michigan students, especially as many pay over $70,000 annually to attend. While dorms cater to most first-year students, upperclassmen and transfers often struggle to find off-campus housing amid record enrollment. With median rents around $2,140 and single-family homes exceeding $500,000, the high cost of housing adds undue stress to students already managing hefty tuition fees.
Senior Living Rise:
Michigan's population is aging rapidly, with over 2 million residents aged 60+, making up 25% of the state. By 2030, one in four Michiganders will be over 65, and those 85+ are the fastest-growing group. The state has over 500 independent living and 1,200 assisted living facilities, offering seniors a sense of community and companionship, especially for those without nearby family.
